More detail on this person: George David Oxenreider, 88, of South Heidelberg Township, passed away December 15, 2017 at Wyomissing Nursing & Rehabilitation, Reading. He was the husband of Jeanne (Hinkle) Oxenreider, to whom he was married June 9, 1951. Born October 27, 1929, in Temple, he was a son of the late Ellwood David and Clara Maria (Kline) Oxenreider. George was a 1947 graduate of Muhlenberg High School, and attended Albright College. He was honorably discharged as Chief Warrant Officer 3, from the U.S. Army in October of 1968, after serving 20 years. He served during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. In 1950 he was a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne at Ft. Bragg, NC; became a helicopter pilot in 1954 and an Army Fixed Wing Pilot in 1960. George's family accompanied him to all of his assignments, except Vietnam. He was stationed many places around the world, including Japan, from 1954-1957, where he served in the Sixth Helicopter Company, Hawaii, from 1961-1964 and Vietnam, where he served in the First Cav, 11th Air Assault, General Support, from 1965-1966. George was a member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church, Whitfield, where he served on the vestry for several years. He was employed with Carpenter Technology for 10 years, Ezekial & Weilman Supply, in Virginia, Singer Equipment, Wyomissing, Ram Motors, Leesport, and most recently, Walter R. Christ Funeral Home Inc., for 8 years. George was a past member of Rajah Shrine Consistory, Eastern Star, where he was past Patron of the Alethia Chapter, and he was a Mason for 50 years. He was also a member of the American Legion. George loved golfing, taking road trips in his RV, wine trips to New York, family trips to Holden Beach and attending his grandchildren's sporting events. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his five children: Suzan J. Oxenreider, of Womelsdorf; Julie L., wife of Brian W. Clements, of Wernersville; Marliese A., wife of Kevin C. Smith, of Wernersville; Eric G. Oxenreider, of Cape Coral, Fla.; and Dana M. Ulrich, of Robesonia. Other survivors include his three siblings: Elwood J. Oxenreider, of Temple; Lynn F., husband of Josephine Oxenreider, of Midlothian, Va.; and Peggyann, wife of Lee R. Reiniger, of Muhlenberg Township. There are also sixteen grandchildren: Chad D. Triolet, Brian Triolet, Joshua Clements, Jacob Clements, Sarah Jordan, Clayton Clements, Amanda Pfeffer, Adam Smith, Ashley Trego, Chelsea Oxenreider, Keri Leigh Fisher, Krysta Reber, Zachary Fisher, Kendra Watson, Mariah Loose and Dakota Loose; and twenty great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 30th at 1 p.m. at St. Alban's Episcopal Church, 2848 St. Alban's Drive, Sinking Spring, PA 19608. A visitation will be held from 12-1 p.m. in the church. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
