More detail on this person: O'DONNELL, Robert Vincent "Bob" Age 74, of Bellbrook, OH passed away April 13, 2014 from a malignant brain tumor. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY. His father Oswald, mother Selene, and brother John preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 51 years Mary Ellen (Kitty), sons Peter (Diana) of Grand Rapids, MI and Drew (Michele) of Chapel Hill, NC and four grandsons: Brendan, Colin, Kevin, and Sean. He is also survived by his brother Jim (Jeanne) of Gig Harbor, WA. Bob was a graduate of Bishop Duffy High School ('58) and the University of Dayton ('62 B.S. Bus Admin, '71 MBA). He was a proud officer in the United States Army and served as a fixed wing pilot in Munich, Germany and a Helicopter pilot in Vietnam. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Air Medal Award, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. He loved Dayton and its rich aviation history. He retired from Standard Register after a thirty-three year career. In retirement he worked as an HR Block Income Tax preparer, a consultant for Heckmann Sales & Leasing, and served as the Executive Director of the National Utility Contractors Association of Ohio (NUCA). Bob was a proud supporter of The University of Dayton. He was a member of the Flyers Club, on the Executive Board of the Golden Flyers, on the UD Leadership Council and a UD basketball season ticket holder. He was also a member of the Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity. Bob was a longtime member of Incarnation Church. He served as the Director of Athletics for the parish and was a Charter member of the Knights of Columbus St. Leonard's Council 10215. He also volunteered for Big Brothers Big Sisters, was the Treasurer of the Alter Boosters Association, a soccer coach, and a soccer referee. He was a member of several dinner clubs with close, long standing friends. His passions included golf, computers, travel, and enjoying time with his friends, his family and his wife. Bob and Kitty did everything together. He was known for his frugality, quick wit, and dry sense of humor. He liked to tell jokes, often sharing them at dinner parties. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother and he will be missed by all who loved him. The family wishes to thank all of Bob's many friends who lent support and help during this difficult time as well as Dr. Ryan Bauman, Dr. Scott Bleser, the staff at St. Leonard's Long term care facility and, most especially, Terri and Susan of Hospice of Dayton. Friends may call from 4-7 pm Wednesday April 23, 2014 at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-FAR HILLS CHAPEL 5471 Far Hills Ave at Rahn Rd. Memorial Mass 10:30 am Thursday April 24, 2014 at Incarnation Church in Centerville, Ohio with burial in Woodland Cemetery, overlooking his beloved UD.
