Popplewell, 75, resident of Moreno Valley, CA, for the past 20 years, passed away October 23, 2004. He was born in Kansas City, MO, October 19, 1929. He worked for the Kansas City, MO, Fire Department for 21 years, and retired as a Captain. He served in the US Navy, Marines, and retired from the Army in 1977 as a Senior Army Aviator. He received his BA degree from Park College in Parkville, MO, and MA from Central Michigan and teaching certificate from University of California at Riverside. After moving to Moreno Valley he was a teacher for the CA Dept. of Corrections for five years until he retired in 1993. He was a 50 year member of Ivanoe Masonic Lodge #446 in Kansas City, MO. His interests included genealogy and playing Bridge. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Ernestine (Ernie); two sons, J. Michael Popplewell and Alan B. Popplewell, Moreno Valley, CA; one daughter, Robin D. Popplewell, Stow, OH; grandson Jason Gonzalez, Sarasota, FL; brother Reagan E. Popplewell, Dothan, AL; and sister Minnie Choiniere, Blue Springs, MO. Services and burial will be held Friday, October 29 at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Floral Hills Chapel, with viewing at 1 p.m., and graveside services following at 2 p.m.
