More detail on this person: James Arthur Price went home to heaven on November 21, 2018. Jim was a beloved figure who was well known in the Memphis area. Originally from Delaware, OH, Jim moved to Memphis, TN in 1973 to begin his career at Federal Express. Jim retired from Federal Express in 2002. Jim served honorably in the United States Army, retiring as a Captain, before joining the Mississippi Air National Guard in Tupelo, MS. Jim was a decorated Vietnam veteran, where, as an OH-6 Scout Pilot in the 1st Air Cavalry, he was shot down and won the Purple Heart, Distinguished Flying Cross, and Bronze Star for Valor. Jim was an accomplished pilot who loved reading and sitting by a pool or on a beach with his friends and family. Having lived in Memphis most of his life, Jim made many lifelong friends here. He will be remembered as having a great sense of humor and always having a smile on his face. Jim was a war hero, worked his entire career at a world class company, and retired early having built his own rental property business. He inspired all those around him and will be greatly missed: he was a man among men. Jim is survived by his longtime companion, Judy Parker of Memphis, TN, his two brothers, Tom Price of Delaware, OH and Bill Price of Houston, TX. He is also survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Noelle Price, and grandson, Connor Price, of Richmond, VA. His daughter, Morgan Austin, preceded him in death and awaits him in heaven along with his loving parents, Earl and Jennie Price. There will be a memorial service at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN at 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 25, 2018. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
