More detail on this person: CW1 Conrad M. Picofsky was born on 01 October 1947 and died on 18 May 2024. The cause of his death was multiple myeloma linked to his service connected disability of agent orange from the Vietnam War. He was born and raised in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania by his parents Conrad Anthony Picofsky and Grace Helen Defrank. His parents were both federal workers. They were also both Roman Catholic and baptized Conrad Roman Catholic. Conrad graduated from Monsignor Bonner and Archbishop Prendergast Catholic High School. Upon graduating from High School, Conrad enlisted in the US Army on 29 March 1967 at the rank of PVT E-1. His place of entry was Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was accepted to receive a Warrant Officer Appointment. On 9 November 1967 Conrad M. Picofsky had successfully graduated from the United States Army Primary Helicopter School's Warrant Officer Candidate Rotary Wing Aviator Course at Fort Wolters, Texas. On 7 May 1968 CW1 Conrad M. Picofsky was ordered to the Republic of Vietnam where he flew Huey and Bell AH-1 Cobra attack helicopters for the 1st Cavalry Division. His last duty of assignment was Battery B 82nd Artillery APO SF 96490. He was Honorably discharged on 3 May 1969. CW1 Conrad M. Picofsky's military awards include: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Air Medal, Army Aviation Badge and one overseas bar. After serving Honorably, Conrad M. Picofsky returned to civilian life and graduated from Temple University's class of 1973 with a 3.73 GPA in Mathematics. He would later move to Isfahan, Iran with his wife Florence Valentine to work for Bell Helicopter International to train the Shah's Imperial Iranian Army Air Corps. While living in Isfahan, Iran, Conrad learned Farsi and had his first child, Natasha Picofsky who is now a Registered Nurse in Florida. However, in 1979 Conrad and his family had to evacuate from Iran due to the Iranian coupe d'etat. After the coup, Conrad returned to Media, PA to buy a house and have a Son in 1980, Conrad M. Picofsky Jr. who followed in his Father's footsteps as an army officer and is now retired from the army. Conrad M. Picofsky Sr. was a musician who enjoyed playing the guitar. He was a world traveler and made it as far as Antartica. He dove the Great Barrier Reef in Australia and explored the Great Pyramid of Egypt. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles in his spare time, and enjoyed learning foreign languages. His most proficient foreign language ability was in Italian to maintain contact with his Italian heritage in Sicily. On 6 June 2024, he was buried at the new Central Coast Veterans Cemetery located in beautiful Monterey, California. He received a twenty-one gun salute by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and received an active duty military honor guard. His Son, Conrad Picofsky Jr., received the flag from the Honor Guard. His headstone's epitaph reads, "Love thy neighbor as thyself." Conrad M. Picofsky Sr. was a proud Father who will be forever missed.
