More detail on this person: Johnny Derald Palmer, 73, of Oklahoma City, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2018, in Oklahoma City. The son of Lige Palmer and Ruby (Harris) Palmer, Johnny was born July 30, 1944, in Hobart, OK. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot with the Americal Division. He continued to serve in the Army Reserve after his release from active duty. Johnny retired as a colonel after 27 years of service. Johnny married the "Love of His Life," Kathy Wynonda Parker, on July 30, 1966, in Sentinel, OK. He was a graduate of Oklahoma State University Class of 67 with a degree in agricultural economics and later attended SWOSU where he received his bachelor's in accounting. Johnny was employed by the IRS for 30 years. Upon retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, working in his yard, and spoiling his dogs. Johnny is survived by his wife, Kathy Palmer, of Oklahoma City; two sons, Johnny Palmer & wife Yvette, of Newport Center, VT; and Jay Palmer & his wife Brandie, of Norman, OK; five grandchildren, Alexis, Johnny, Reid, Taylor, and Jayson; and six great-grandchildren, Auraelia, Bostyn, Spencer, Stryker, Scout, and Presley. A Memorial Service will be held March 24, 2018, at the Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home at 5005 S.E 29th Street, Del City, OK 73115, at 2 p.m. with Graveside to follow at Arlington Memorial Gardens, 3400 N. Midwest Blvd., Midwest City, OK 73141.
