More detail on this person: Douglas Edward Plummer Douglas Edward Plummer, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on February 15, 2012 in Woodbridge, Virginia at the age of sixty-six. At the time of his death, he was serving with his lifelong companion, Kris, as military relations missionaries in the Washington, DC South Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Born July 21, 1945 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, son of Joseph Harry and Geneve Taylor Plummer. He married his sweetheart, Kristine Mullett, on March 22, 1967 in Cedar City, Utah; marriage later solemnized in the St. George Temple. Together they raised a family of four children and thirteen adoring grandchildren. Doug grew up in Cedar City, Utah, where he gained his early education. Attended SUSC (now SUU), graduating in 1968 with a BS in chemistry. Shortly after graduation, he received "greetings' from Uncle Sam which led to a twenty-four-year career in the army. He retired as a Lt. Colonel in 1992. He then obtained a second degree from the University of Utah in medical laboratory science and worked at Heredilab in Salt Lake City for sixteen years. He was an avid athlete who loved playing tennis and golf but his favorite sport was anything you wanted to play at that moment. In addition to playing sports, he could be often be found cheering on the sidelines of any of his grandchildren's events-sporting or otherwise. He was always busy in the task of self-improvement, but his greatest joy came when he was given a "project" preferably one that benefited his family in any way. He has cleared out many an overgrown yard, fixed every broken appliance, organized garages, and washed plenty of dishes. He taught his children an incredible work ethic. Dad was happiest when he was working along side someone (usually family) that he loved and the satisfaction of a job well done, and making others happy with his service. We will be lost without our favorite "handyman". He was a best friend to his son, Erick, and tenderly referred to each of his three daughters as "sweetheart" but his most cherished sweetheart was Kris, his wife of almost forty-four years. He was often caught looking at her as though he couldn't figure out how he had gotten so lucky. He cherished his membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. As a result of his military career, he was able to serve in many leadership positions all over the world, including bishop (Missouri) and counselor in a district presidency (Japan). But it was his last calling to serve that he was most excited about. He had a burning testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and loved the opportunity to share it. For the past two months, he and his eternal companion had been serving as 'senior' missionaries in Virginia. It was there, surrounded by his wife and other faithful missionaries that he was able to live out his last days doing what he loved most, serving others. He has now been 'transferred' to another mission. He leaves behind a wonderful legacy of love, kindness, generosity, and all that is good. He led by example and encompassed Christ-like charity in all he did. He continuously thought of the needs of others before himself, and will never be forgotten. He is survived by his wife, Kris; his children, Lori (Jordan) Radman, Kelli (Brandt) Kuykendall, Jodi (Pat) McGrath, and Erick Plummer; sister, Marilyn (Theron) Rose; and twin brother, David (Louise) Plummer. A part of dad will live on in the form of his best friend and twin brother, Dave, whom he loved dearly and had a unique kinship with, which was most wonderful and enviable. He will be so missed by his other half. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 in the Woodland Hills Ward Chapel, 640 South 750 East, Bountiful Utah. Family and friends may call Tuesday evening, February 21, 2012, at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, Bountiful, Utah, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Graveside services and interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2012 in the Cedar City, Utah Cemetery. To our sweet dad, until we meet again - we love you and will miss you.
