Peters Progress-Index, The (Petersburg, VA) - Thursday, September 20, 2007 Pettersburg VA United States Donald Frederick Peters, 73, of Dinwiddie, died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007, at McGuire VA Medical Center, Richmond. He was the widower of Sharon Lee Peters and the son of the late Frederich L. and Ruth E. Averil Peters. Mr. Peters was a highly decorated retired U.S. Army officer, serving in the Vietnam War, and was retired from CASCOM (Department of Defense) at Fort Lee for more than 20 years. He is survived by two sons, Frederich L. (Fritz) Peters and wife Ella of Dinwiddie and Gregory L. Peters of North Carolina; one daughter, Sharidon L. Daniel of Dinwiddie; one grandson, Drummer S. Daniel; and two special friends, Tyler and Tracy Towers, along with numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 3-4:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post 137, P.O. Box 74445, Richmond, VA, 23236 or to the Heart of Virginia Council, Boy Scouts of America, P.O. Box 6809, Richmond, VA 23230.
