More detail on this person: Kenneth Edward Philley April 11, 1943 - December 8, 2015 Resided in Kilbourne KILBOURNE, LA- Funeral services for Kenneth Edward Philley, age 72, retired military, will be held at 11 AM on Friday, December 11, 2015 at Kilbourne Baptist Church in Kilbourne, Louisiana. Reverend Kevin McLeod will officiate. Services are under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Oak Grove, Louisiana. Interment will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, December 11, 2015 at Northeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Rayville, Louisiana. Mr. Philley passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at Willis-Knighton North Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. Family will receive friends on Thursday, December 10, 2015 from 4 to 8 PM at Cox Funeral Home in Oak Grove, Louisiana. Army Captain Ken Philley. Ken served in Vietnam primarily flying the Bell UH-1 Iroquois helicoptor. He primarily served in B Troop, 7th Squadron, 17th Air Cavalry Regiment "Ruthless Riders". He served with distinction earning the Bronze Star, the Distinguished Flying Cross, and 32 awards of the Air Medal (each signifying 25 combat missions). He served in the 11th Armored Calvalry Regiment in Bad Kissingen, Germany from 1972 to 1975 and was assigned border security in Seoul, Korea flying helicopters from 1975 to 1977. He served out the remainder of his service at Fort Rucker, Alabama certifying I.P. pilots. He graduated from USC in Aviation Safety. He worked at World Savings in California and Texas. He served in the Honor Guard of the Catron-Kelly American Legion Post and was a member of the Thomas-Tyson Post of the VFW in Oak Grove, LA. He was an avid golfer and a music lover. Ken was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Wisdom Philley; and his parents, Edward Philley and Mildred Owen Philley. He is survived by his special friend, Sharon Bosley of Arlington, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Claudene and Jim Schmidt of Bossier City, Louisiana; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Betty Philley of Oak Grove, Louisiana; sister, Marilyn Crowe of Anacco, Louisiana; brother and sister-in-law, Freddie and Christine Philley of Clinton, Mississippi; brother, Donald Philley of Monroe, Louisiana; sister, Pam Philley of Bastrop, Louisiana and sister, Martha Philley of Arlington, Texas. Pallbearers are: Jon Philley, Ron Philley, Ken Crowe, Andy Philley, Danny Gunter, and Garrett Posey. Honorary Pallbearers are members of the American Legion and the VFW. Memorials may be made to the Catron-Kelly Post of the American Legion or the Thomas-Tyson Post of the VFW.
