Potter, age 77, died November 8, 2006. Born May 8, 1929, in Muskegon, to Arthur and Vera "Mimi" (Ashcraft) Potter, he was a life-long resident of the White Lake. On October 17, 1953, in Whitehall, he married the former Phyllis Schilleman. He graduated from Michigan State University, earning a Bachelor degree. He entered the US Army where he was a senior aviator, achieving the rank of Lt. Colonel. He served one tour in Korea and two tours in Vietnam, retiring in 1978. He then served as the manager of Algot Johnson American Legion Post #69 Club Room for 16 years. Lt. Col. Potter was a member of Algot Johnson American Legion Post #69, Don Rea VFW Post #8846, White Lake Eagles Aerie #3214, Army Aviation Association of America and Retired Officers Association. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Potter and Arthur Potter. FAMILY: His wife, Phyllis; sons Bruce (Jan) Potter, and their children, Hope & Hannah; and Brian (Lisa) Potter and their children, Dillon, McKenzie & Kara; a brother, Howard (Clara) Potter of Whitehall; 2 sister-in-laws, Jean Potter and Roberta Potter, both of Whitehall. MEMORIAL SERVICE: Monday, November 13, 2006, at 11:00 A.M., from Algot Johnson American Legion Post #69, 803 E. Colby St. with the Rev. Jan Johnson and Cmdr. Nancy Frye officiating. Military Honors will be bestowed by Algot Johnson American Legion Post #69 at the time of service. VISITING HOURS: Sunday, 4-7 PM, at Clock Funeral Home in Whitehall.
