Prouty, U.S. Army, Ret., 72, of Camp Hill, died Sunday June 20, 2004 in Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Twp. He was a retired helicopter, jet and airplane pilot with the U.S. Army with 32 years of service and three tours of Vietnam, serving from 1951 through 1981. After retiring from military service, he flew corporate helicopters and jets for Rite Aid Corp., for 12 years. He was a 1948 graduate of Ithaca High School, NY and a 1973 graduate of Emory Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach, FL. Chief Prouty was also a member of VFW Post #6704, Mechanicsburg. Chief Prouty was born October 12, 1931 in Ithaca, NY to the late Everett and Christine (Miller) Prouty. He is survived by his wife, Ofelia (Payongayong) Prouty; 3 daughters, Dixie L. Wood and Christie Blow, both of Orlando, FL and Stacey Prouty of Crestview, FL; a son, David E. Prouty of Orlando, FL; a step daughter, Dorothy Parent of Newburg, NY; a stepson, Ernesto P. Jose of Lake Meade, East Berlin, PA; 2 sisters, Kathleen Galt of Port Ritchie, FL and Barbara Drake of Ocala, FL; 5 grandchildren and a great granddaughter. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing or visitation. Private burial with military honors will be held in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Hanover Twp.
