Parsons, 74, Army veteran of three wars Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The (GA) - Friday, December 11, 1998 For 30 years and through three wars, Chief Warrant Officer Howard E. Parsons dedicated his life to his country. He died Tuesday at age 74. Mr. Parsons, a native of Moundsville, W.Va., moved to Buford eight years ago. The Army veteran served during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. "He received the Distinguishing Flying Cross, two Bronze Stars, 21 Air Medals and two Oak Leaf Clusters," said his daughter, Sue Barbaro of Buford. In his free time, he liked to stay home and watch the Atlanta Braves on TV. "Baseball was his favorite sport," his daughter said. "He was very quiet and liked to be by himself." Services will be at 11 a.m. today in the chapel of Tapp Funeral Home, with burial at Hill Crest Cemetery with full military honors. Other survivors include his children, Cyndi Parsons of Clive, Iowa, and Chief Warrant Officer Howard Parsons of Marietta; his sister, Wanda Riddell of Lancaster, Ohio; and four grandchildren.
