Peterlin Sr., 65, of 2688 Conestoga Court, Newburgh, Ind., formerly of 109 Lawrence St., a retired school principal, died Monday, March 19, in St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital in Houston. He leaves his wife, Claire M. (Richard) Peterlin; three sons, Frank T. Peterlin Jr. of Evansville, Ind., John Peterlin of Auburn, Ala., and Robert Peterlin of Fort Bragg, N.C.; three daughters, Margaret J.A. Peterlin of Houston, Meghann and Kathren Peterlin, both of Springfield Va.; a brother, Jack Peterlin of Joliet, Ill.; two grandchildren. He was born in Joliet, son of Frank T. and Margaret (Fromme) Peterlin, and lived 13 years in Gardner and two years in Newburgh. He graduated from Xavier University in Cincinnati, and received a master's degree from Troy State College in Daleville, Ala. He received another master's degree from Assumption College in Worcester. He was an Army veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars, and received a Bronze Star. He retired as a lieutenant colonel. Mr. Peterlin was principal six years at Sacred Heart School, Gardner, retiring in 1999. He enjoyed reading and flying. The funeral service, with military honors, will be held Friday, March 30, from John H. Mack Funeral Home, 91 Vernon St., with a Mass at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 166 Cross St. Burial will be in the spring in St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 29, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Frank T. Peterlin Sr. Scholarship Fund, c/o Sacred Heart School, 53 Lynde St., Gardner, MA 01440.
