More detail on this person: The very First WOC to hover and then also the First to "solo" at Camp Rucker in October and November 1954 was MSGT Eugene Price, a member of our First WOC Class, ACHPC 55-Fox.

"Gene" Price had been a line chief for a H-19 unit in Korea, and had "bootlegged" alot of flight time. His only problem was that he hovered the H-13 about 15 feet in the air.... the H-19 "sight picture".

"Gene" went on to a great career. After returning from a CH-54 tour in Vietnam he set World's records for altitude and time-to-climb in a CH-54 at the Sikorsky factory in CT. When he died in the mid-70s, he was buried near the factory and his grave is about 100 feet from Igor Sikorsky's final resting place.
