More detail on this person: NEWPORT NEWS - Retired Maj. James F. Poe died Saturday, July 19, 1997. He is survived by his wife, Jewel; two sons, James Jr. and Michael; two daughters, Robin and Gai Karole; mother, Audrey Poe Allen of Smithfield; stepfather, David S. Allen; sister, Marian Redican; and grandchild, Jewel Mechelle. A viewing will be held Thursday, July 24, from 2 to 5 p.m. with a funeral service at 7 p.m. at Roy L. Gilmore Funeral Home, 19102 Linden Blvd., St. Albans, N.Y. 11412. A local graveside service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery on Friday, July 25. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be sent in the name of Maj. James F. Poe Sr., U.S. Army Retired, to The Epilepsy Society of New York, 305 Seventh Ave., 12th Floor, New York, N.Y. 10001; or The Epilepsy Foundation of America, 4351 Garden City Drive, Landover, Md. 20785.
