More detail on this person: CHELMSFORD - John W. "Jack" Peters, 78, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away at his home on January 21, 2014 in the company of his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Frances Jeanne (Ciccozzi) to whom he has been married for 55 years. He was born in New Brighton, PA on September 9, 1935 and was a son of the late Leland and Naomi (Mumford) Peters. Jack was a 1958 graduate of West Point and retired from the United States Army as a Lt. Colonel after proudly serving for 22 years. His career as an Army Aviator included two tours of duty in Vietnam and many awards including the Distinguished Flying Cross and several Bronze Stars. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and an active parishioner at St. Mary Parish where he volunteered as a Lector and a Eucharistic Minister. Jack was also a substitute teacher at Chelmsford High School for many years. In addition to his loving wife, Jeanne, he is survived by his children; Scott Peters and his wife Rhonda of Alexandria, VA, and Kellie McCann and her husband Jim of Chelmsford, five grandchildren; Yaicha, Michael, Cortney, Michaela, and Damon, and two brothers; Ray and Kenny Peters. At the family's request there will be no visitation. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday February 1 at 9 o'clock, AM at St. Mary Parish, 25 North Rd., Chelmsford. Interment in West Point Cemetery, NY will take place at a later date.
