Robbins, 64, of Barnardsville, died Friday, July 30, 2010. Mr. Robbins was born Oct. 27, 1945, in Aniston, Ala. He was a CRNA with Asheville Surgery Center, Asheville Anesthesia Association for 30 years, and also with Asheville Eye Center. He served as a captain in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and in Germany. He was an active member of Harvest Time Assembly of God and was currently Sunday School Teacher of the Year. Surviving are his wife of 26 years, Kathy Atkins Robbins; daughter, Crystal; son, Christopher; several grandchildren and one great-grandchild. His funeral service was held at 2:30 pm on Monday, Aug. 2, 2010, in Harvest Time Assembly of God, with the Rev. Darrell McClaren, the Rev. Daniel Reid and the Rev. Margaret Smathers officiating. Burial was in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory with military graveside rites conducted by Mars Hill VFW Post 5483 Memorial Team. The family received friends from 4 pm to 6 pm on Sunday, Aug. 1, 2010, at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, where the body will remain until placed in the church one hour prior to the service. At other times the family will be at the residence. Flowers are acceptable and appreciated. Those desiring to make a memorial contribution are encouraged to consider West Funeral Home to assist the family with funeral expenses.
