More detail on this person: Gregory F Roche He died at Woodland Towers. After retiring from the Army Oct. 31, 1977, Mr. Roche on Nov. 1, 1977, started West Volusia Realty of DeLand. He was the real-estate company's broker/owner and certified residential appraiser. Mr. Roche's distinguished military career spanned 24 years. He served as an infantry and aviation officer with the 1st Armored Division, Korea, 1st Calvary Division, 271st Assault Helicopter Co., Vietnam, Headquarters 7th Army, Germany. He served two combat tours in Vietnam and was awarded the Legion of Merit, the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Air Medal with 25 Oak Leaf Clusters and Valor, the Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Republic of Vietnam Service Medal with seven stars, the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Bronze Star, the rank of Master Army Aviator, the Parachutist Badge, the Expert Infantry Badge, and a Presidential Unit Citation. He retired from military service as a lieutenant colonel. Mr. Roche was also a professor of Military Science at Stetson University, and an instructor for the West Volusia School of Real Estate at Daytona Beach Community College. Mr. Roche was a member of the Rotary Club, DeLand Quarterback Club, Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge, and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. Roche was a graduate of St. Mary's High School in Rutherford, N.J., and attended Villanova University. He was survived by four children, Terri McIntyre of Ormond Beach, Chris Pugh of Tuscon, Ariz., Leslie Rak of DeLand, and Greg Roche of Hillsboro, N.C.; three sisters, Regina Butt of Prescott, Ariz., Pat Smith of Palm Coast, and Marie Roche of Randolph, N.J.; and eight grandchildren.
