More detail on this person: John W. Read John W. Read, age 57, of Oregon, OH, passed away on Sunday evening December 18, 2005, at St. Charles Mercy Hospital Oregon, OH. He was born on October 9, 1948 in Herkimer, NY to Edgar and Jane (Norton) Read. On October 27, 1990 he married Elizabeth Meyer in Pemberville, OH and she survives. John was a decorated Vietnam War Veteran having served in the U.S. Army. He attended Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church Elmore, OH and was a member of the American Power Boat Association, Three Rivers Outboard Racing Association and the Vietnam Helicopter Pilot Association. John was a Chinook Pilot, Paramedic and Volunteer fireman for Grand Blvd. Volunteer Fire Department in Niskayuna, NY. John loved boat racing, hunting and fishing. Surviving John is his wife, Dr. Elizabeth Read of Oregon, OH; 3 daughters, Laurel (Greg) Jones of Glenmont, NY, Melissa Read (fiance, Justin Kreider) of Saratoga, NY, Emma Read of Oregon, OH; father, Edgar "Bud" Read of Niskayuna, NY; brothers, David (JoAnne) Read of Guilderland, NY, Douglas (Connie) Read of St. Augustine, FL; sisters, Jane (Donald) Drake of Rochester, NY, Susan Read of Schuyler, NY; step brothers, Scott and Jack Moyer of California and step sister, Deborah Moyer of Italy. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jane Read and step mother, Caroline Moyer Read. Family and friends will be received from 5- 7 p.m., Wednesday December 21, 2005 at the Marsh Funeral Home, 4094 State Route 105, Pemberville, OH, where memorial services will be conducted immediately following visitation at 7:00 p.m. Officiating will be Rev. Stephen Lutz. Burial will be in Higgins Bay Cemetery, Piseco, NY. Those giving a memorial contribution may wish to consider the Grand Blvd. Volunteer Fire Department of Niskayuna, NY, or a charity of the donor's choice.
