Born in Meriden, he was a son of John E. and
Louise Unwin Reardon. Mr. Reardon was educated
in Wallingford schools and graduated from Lyman
Hall High School in 1962. He attended the
University of Vermont and graduated in 1967. Mr.
Reardon served four years in the U.S. Army, where
he completed flight training as a helicopter
pilot. He served in that capacity in Vietnam from
1968 to 1969 and was awarded the Distinguished
Flying Cross. He worked at Aetna Life and Casualty
in Connecticut before moving to Maine in 1977.
Mr. Reardon then worked at UNUM until he
purchased his own company, Deepwoods Flooring
Co., in Falmouth, He ran the company for three
years when it was sold because of his declining
health. He was also a member of the First
Congregational Church of South Portland.
He is survived by his mother of Wallingford; his
wife of 33 years, Ann Howarth Reardon; one son,
Jeffery of Camden, Maine; one daughter, Christine
Reardon of Tampa, Fla.; two brothers, John E. Jr.
of Fayetteville, N.C., and Christopher of
Shorewood, Minn.
There will be no calling hours. A memorial service
will be held on Saturday, Oct. 16, at First
Congregational Church of South Portland at 11 a.m.
Burial will be private. Arrangements are by Hobbs
Funeral Home.
