More detail on this person: David N. Rochelle, 75, of Florence, SC died on May21, 2018 from complications of prostate cancer. He was born and raised in Wilmington. He graduated from NHHS in 1961, and enlisted in the Army. During his 15 years in the Army, he served two tours in Vietnam, first as a weapons platoon leader in 1965/1966 with the 101st ABN DIV, and later as an Army helicopter pilot in 1971. For his service, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Purple Heart (twice), the Bronze Star, and the Air Medal. After leaving the Army in 1976, he worked in human resources for several civilian companies before joining the US Department of State as a human resource officer in the foreign service department. He ended his career living in central Virginia, and working for the State Dept. in Washington, DC. Upon retirement, he relocated to Florence, SC. David is survived by his wife, Joyce, and daughter, Cindy, who lives in Alexandria, VA. He was predeceased by his first wife, Sherry, and their daughter, Jennifer.
