More detail on this person: James Manning Rhoades, 83, of Marshall passed away, Friday, March 17, 2017 at his home. James was born June 18, 1933 in Wakeeney, Kansas to James Manning and Leila Lucinda Isenberg Rhoades. James made his career in the Armed Forces, first serving in the Air Force and then in the Army attaining the rank of Chief Warrant Officer, 2nd Class. During his 21 years of honorable service, he served two tours in the Korean War, two tours in the Vietnam War, was a helicopter pilot, a mechanic and a military police officer. He was a member of several pilot associations including AOPA and VHPA. James was a man of many, many talents. He could sing, play guitar, yodel and play the harmonica. He also played miniature golf and pool and could beat you at both every single time! James greatest love was that of Jesus and he would witness to people as often as he could. He was a faithful member of Family Life Outreach Center. He was well loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. James is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Gwen Lee Denning, Lois Jean Norton and Michael Edward Rhoades; and the mothers of his children, Jeannine Rhoades Varner and Dianne Hamer Rhoades. James is survived by his daughters, Denise Renee Macfarlane, Cory Colleen Alvarado (Jorge) and Angela Shawn Brockett (Wynn); sons, James Manning Rhoades, V (Jeannie Louise) and Jonathan David Rhoades (Jessica May); grandchildren, Ralph Edward Whitten, Jr., Lyanna Gayle Benner, Niles Patrick Whitten, Judith Amy-Gay Journey, Joseph Joel Johnson, Dennis Paul Rhoades, Ryan Gabriel Brockett, Marinna Ashley Brockett, Jeannine Sarah Lucio, David Gumescindo Lucio, James Manning Rhoades, VI, Stephen Gregory Rhoades, Daniel George Rhoades, Andrew David Rhoades, Joseph Eric Rhoades and Lennon Hadley Rhoades; 27 great grandchildren; sister, Merna Darlene Gunnels; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. Visitation will be 6-8 pm Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Meadowbrook Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be 11 am Friday, March 24, 2017 at Meadowbrook Funeral Home. Burial will be at Golden Cemetery in Golden, Colorado. Online condolences may be offered at www.meadowbrookfh.com
