More detail on this person: Jack Ferrill Ross IV passed away on Tuesday, August 28th, 2018. He was born November 10, 1942, in Mobile, Alabama to Jack Ferrill Ross III and Marie Douglas Ross. Jack is preceded in death by his parents as well as his sister Amelia Kosmo Bloom. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Linda Zevac Ross; daughters Mary Davis (Ed) Klaus of Newport, Tennessee, Amanda (Jonathan) Repman of Midland, Texas, and Amelia Ferrill Ross of New York, New York; grandchildren: Katie, Miguel, Jesse, Hunter, Elam, and Everett. He is also survived by special cousins, nieces, and nephews. Jack graduated from Auburn University in 1965. Immediately after graduation he went to Officer Training School and flight school. He then proudly served his country as an Army helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War. After the war, Jack worked at First National Bank in Mobile where he met the love of his life, Linda. He finished his work career at Kimberly Clark. For over 40 years Jack was a member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, serving as senior warden, junior warden, and treasurer. Jack demonstrated his servant's heart at St. Matthew's where he cared for the church and grounds as if they were his own home. He openly showed his love for his church family by being available to them whenever they needed him. After the closing of St. Matthew's, Jack was a member of Christ Church Cathedral in Mobile. One of Jack's joys came with four wheels. He was a charter member of the South Alabama British Car Club. He served as VP/Membership and for many years helped to write the monthly newsletter. Jack purchased his Jaguar when it was brand new in 1968 after he returned from Vietnam. His love of British cars was shared with many as he enjoyed trips and wonderful adventures with the car club. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Unit 7 Shehan Pake Mobile. Jack served as treasurer for the Azalea Trail Run for 8 years. Jack dealt with Parkinson's for many years and everyone who knew him saw him meet it head on and head strong. Jack was a man of his word, an avid Auburn football fan, was happy as long as the kitchen pantry had peanut butter, and he loved his family fiercely. We are all better because we knew you Jack and we will miss you. War Eagle! The family requests that donations be made in Jack's memory to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Researchor charity of your choice in lieu of flowers. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 5th, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Church Cathedral in Mobile, with visitation one hour before the service.
