More detail on this person: After looking
through cerificates and his DD-214, I believe his
US Army helicopter class was 68-28 B-4, Ft.
Wolters, TX. He receieved a purple heart for
wounds received on 1/24/69, Army Commendation
medal for meritorious service at Fort Ord, CA from
6/1/69 to 7/15/72, the Air Medal on 1/25/69, Army
Aviation badge and Vietnam service medal. I
believe he was in Vietnam from 12/31/68 to 3/1/69.
He left the US Army Oct 31, 74. If you find out
any more information about him... please share.
My information maybe slightly incorrect. I do
know from the certificate in front of me that he
became a Capt on 12/5/69. This information was last updated 05/18/2016

I remember he shared quite a few very incredible
stories with me about his missions. From what I
remember his helicopter crashed and he was the
sole survivor. He broke several bones and was
shot 9 times.
His guilt weighed heavily on him his entire life.
Not only did his brother and father commit suicide
but after 33 years of marriage my mother divorced
him because his problem with alcohol became too
much for us to bare. He died 7/3/09 of liver
failure due to cirrhosis. Even after the doctors
told him to stop... he continued. He was an
amazing man who I miss very much. Unfortunetly,
because he became so difficult to deal with we
stopped speaking a few years before his death. I
found out months later after he passed that he had
himself cremated. He is finally at peace. Thank
you for your time.
