More detail on this person: John Henry Richardson, (Col., U.S. Army, Ret.) SHREVEPORT, LA - John Henry Richardson, fondly known to all as "The Colonel", passed away on the morning of December 22nd at his home in Shreveport at the age of 82. Suffering from the loss of his loving wife, Lois Anne, in April, the Colonel passed on with the blessings of his surviving children, John Higman Richardson and Cheryl Anne Richardson. John Henry was the last surviving child of Henry Lyman and Ollie Mae Richardson of Shreveport, founding owners of Richardson Rexall downtown. Born and raised in Shreveport, John Henry attended Byrd High School, Texas A&M and graduated from LSU prior to being commissioned in the US Army. John served his country for almost 30 years in numerous stations across the United States, Germany, Korea and Vietnam. Retiring in Shreveport, John became known as "The Handy Neighbor", and found joy in snow skiing and scuba diving with his family. John Henry was devoted to his 3 wonderful grandchildren, Alexis, Elizabeth and Richardson Reid Pomierski. He is survived by an extended Shreveport-based family and world wide circle of family and friends. His commanding presence, generous heart, and worldly experience will be sorely missed. A Celebration of Life memorial will be held at the Shreveport Club on January 21st at 4 p.m. We will celebrate his military service and devotion to family and friends. Family and friends are invited to join in and share a story of their experience with John Henry and make a toast to his life and legacy. In lieu of any planned flowers, a donation to the charity of your choice is greatly appreci
