FREDERICK RATH (RET) passed away on
Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at the age of 62. Mr.
Rath lived in El Paso for the last 39 years and
was a Vietnam Veteran and retired helicopter and
fixed wing pilot in the United States Army. After
retiring from the Army with several accommodations
such as the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart and the
Army Commendation Medal, Jim worked for the El
Paso Community College as Director of Industrial
Programs until 2002. Jim was an avid golfer, loved
to travel and was a wonderful father, husband and
great friend. He is survived by his wife, Oween,
daughter Sandy Rath-Johnson, mother-in-law
Margaret Tumey and brother Steve Rath. Funeral
Service will be held on Monday, February 23, 2009
at 10:00 AM at Peace Lutheran Church, 1699
Belvidere, with Pastor Wayne Kendrick officiating.
Interment will follow at Ft. Bliss National
Cemetery with full military honors. Services
entrusted to Martin Funeral Home West, 128 North
Resler.
