More detail on this person: Redenius, James Robert "Bob" James Robert "Bob" Redenius, 66, of 405 Alexander St., passed away at 4:10 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, at Golden Living Center in LaCrescent, Minn. Born Dec. 3, 1942, in Kewanee, Ill., to Wayne L. and Mary Ann (Driscol) Redenius. Surviving are one sister, Mary Collette Hillers of Pekin, Ill.; and one brother, Richard D. Redenius of Westminster, Colo.; and four nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. After graduating from Neponset (Ill.) High School in 1961, Bob worked for the Neponset Grain Elevator until enlisting in the U.S. Army on April 11, 1967. He served in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot until discharged as a chief warrant officer on Dec. 23, 1969. Bob then attended Illinois State University, receiving a bachelor of science degree in history in 1974. From 1976-78, Bob worked for the Bell Helicopter Company, Inc., training pilots in the Iranian army under the Shah of Iran. He left Iran shortly before the Islamic revolution. From the late 1970s throught the early 1990s, he was a contract worker training Army helicopter pilots at Fort Rucker. From 1993 until taking disability retirement in 1998, Bob was a Life Flight helicopter pilot for Gunderson Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisc. Cremation will be accorded. Private inurnment of cremains with military honors will be in Arlington National Cemetery. One of Bob's favorite causes was to help Lakota Indian children receive a good home and a solid education. Therefore, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Indian School, Chamberlain, South Dakota 57326 or the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Light, 912 Market St., LaCrosse, Wisconsin 54601 Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin (Ill.) chapel.
