More detail on this person: Robert Dean Reid Robert Dean Reid of Pensacola passed away on October 15, 2006. He was a resident of Encore, an Alzheimer's home. Bob was born in Monette, AK on January 14, 1931. He was raised in Osceola, AK and in his words lived a "magical childhood." Bob went to grade school through high school with the same classmates that would become life-long friends. He was a high school football player of star quality and went on to play for Arkansas State in Jonesboro, AK. Bob entered the Naval Aviation Flight Program at Pensacola in 1954. Upon graduation and receiving his wings he chose the Marine Corps in which he flew jets and helicopters. He was stationed in many places including Japan, California, Cherry Point, NC, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, New River, NC, Quantico, VA and Yuma, AZ. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War where he served two tours. Bob received many metals, badges, commendations, citations and campaign ribbons. He served as Presidential Pilot, HMX Squadron in Quantico, VA during the L. B. Johnson presidency. Bob retired at Yuma, AZ in 1973 where he was Commanding Officer of H & HS Squadron, MCAS. Bob became a Real Estate Broker/ Salesman and owner of his own real estate office in Harrison, AK and later sold real estate in Texas and Pensacola. He was a member of Marcus Pointe Baptist Church. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert Reid (born in Missouri) and Dora Reid (born in Monette, AK), and his son, Dean (born in Hawaii). Survivors include his loving wife, Brenda Hinrichs Reid (born and raised in Pensacola); his sons, Steve Reid of Houston, TX, Mark Reid (Susan) of Harrison, AK and David Reid (Sharon) of Lake Placid, FL and Philip Reed of Montana; step-son, Greg Millner of Boynton Beach, FL; step-daughter, Sharon Millner Reid of Lake Placid, FL; granddaughters, Paige Reid of Harrison, AK and Brittany Reid of Lake Placid, FL; grandson, Cody Reid of Houston, TX; step-granddaughters, Blair and Brooke Nixon of Harrison, AK; mother of Bob's sons, Barbara Reid of Magnolia, TX; and several cousins and friends in Texas and Arkansas.
