He received 27 air medals among other things. He
was shot down in Cambodia the last day he was
there and gave up his command. Walked out that
time. My father passed on May 21, 2006 with
Myelodysplastic Syndrome that advanced to AML. I
initially started trying to find people to see if
you guys knew of others who were having medical
problems. But when I went into the Cav site, I got
caught up with reading what all the guys had
written. Thinking it has been 30 years but you
guys just never really leave there do you? Some of
the names that I did find among my fathers things
was Jack Watkins, Monti Veal, Ralph Hamner and
Edward Landry. But I don't know what tour they
were in. Do you know how I research the 2nd or 3rd
Corp area? Do they have sites like the Cav?
Anyway, I appreciate you writing back. I loved my
Dad more than life itself. I miss him terribly but
he had a hard death. Being a nurse, that part was
easy to let go but as a daughter you just can't.
