More detail on this person: Mr James A Richter, 57 DEATHS Daytona Beach News-Journal (FL) - Monday, February 12, 2001 DELAND -- James A. Richter, 57, of Black Ironwood Drive, a certified public accountant, died Saturday at a local care facility. Mr. Richter served in the Army Medical Service Corps during the Vietnam War, earning the Bronze Star, and left the Army Reserves as a lieutenant colonel. A native of Seattle, he moved to this area in 1960 from Orlando, where he was a graduate of the University of Florida. Mr. Richter was also a hospital administrator and a controller at a college. His memberships include: St. Barnabas Episcopal Church; Loyal Order of the Moose; the Museum of Arts, where he was a past director; American College of Hospital Administrators; American Institute of CPAs and he was a troop committee chairman for Boy Scout Troop 610. He was listed in the Who's Who in the South Notable Americans of the Bicentennial Era and Outstanding Young Men of America. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Gail; two sons, Scott, Charleston, S.C., and Sean, DeLand; a brother, Paul, DeLand; a sister, Mary Vavrina, Falls Church, Va.; and a grandchild. Memorial donations may be made to St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 319 W. Wisconsin Ave., DeLand, FL 32720. Lankford, DeLand, is in charge.
