ROLAND OBITUARIES Greensboro News & Record (NC) - Tuesday, October 19, 1993 GIBSONVILLE - Mr. Donald Ray Roland, 48, of 3654 Jesse Road died Monday, Oct. 18, 1993, at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be at 4 p.m. in the Graybill, Roten & Roland Family Cemetery, Warrensville. A native of Ashe County, he was a decorated Vietnam War veteran of the U.S. Army, also serving with the N.C. National Guard. He was a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. Surviving are wife, Mrs. Harriet H. Roland; son, Jeffrey Scott Roland of Winston-Salem; stepsons, Jonathon Layton of Parris Island, S.C., Jason Layton of the home; stepdaughter, Allison Layton of Blowing Rock; parents, Kenneth and Lenamae Roland of Warrensville; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Edgar Stansberry of Jefferson; brother, Larry Roland of San Antonio, Texas; sister, Mrs. Diane R. Killen of West Jefferson; several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to Eastern Guilford Habitat for Humanity, c/o Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, 5120 Burlington Road, Greensboro, N.C. 27405 or Ashe County Habitat for Humanity, c/o Jane Powers, Lansing, N.C. 28643.
