More detail on this person: LAKELAND - CW4 (ret.) James David Robinson, Sr., a resident of Lakeland, Florida, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 18th, 2014, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center at the age of 78, due to complications resulting from Rheumatoid Arthritis.

He was born in Lenox, Georgia, on January 13, 1936 and grew up as a farm boy. He moved to Highland City, Florida in 1954 and was drafted into the US Army in 1959. James "Jim" was career military and proudly served his country for 27 years. He served 18 months in Korea, 9 years total in Germany over several tours, and 3 combat tours in Vietnam. James started his military career in Electronic Warfare Communication and later transitioned to the field of aviation where he flew both fixed wing planes and helicopters. He retired in 1981 from the Army and started Alarms by Protectus, Inc., a statewide security alarm company that he later sold to ADT.

James is survived by his wife, Becky Robinson; 4 children, David (Shelley) Robinson, Karen (David) Matson, Stephania Caliguiri, Stacy Caliguiri; 7 grandchildren, Jillian and Jarod Robinson, Benjamin, Elisa and Rebecca Matson, Mia Davis, and Lachlan Caliguiri; five siblings, Alice Crawford, John (Josie) Robinson, Lola (Emmett) Purvis, Bessie (Dave) Foster, and Shirley Weathers; plus numerous nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his parents, Julia and Snyder Robinson, sister Sallie Napoli and her daughter JoAnn Napoli Cannon, brothers-in-law Cromer Crawford, Joe Napoli and Fred Weathers.

A viewing will be held Saturday, March 22 at 10:00 a.m. at Scott Lake Baptist Church followed immediately by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at a later date at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
