More detail on this person: Harold Schwalm, 64, of Greeley, died Dec. 30, 2010 at the Hospice Inpatient Unit at North Colorado Medical Center. He was born Jan. 15, 1946 in Greeley to Danie Ephram and Hazel (Young) Schwalm.

Harold graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1964 and attended Colorado State University from 1964-69 before being drafted into the Army. He earned his masters of business from UNC and went to Aims where he received a fire science degree.

After returning from Vietnam, Harold built houses in Loveland. He then applied for a position with the Greeley Fire Department and retired five years ago.

Harold was a member of the First Congregational Church of Greeley.He drove the DAV van to Cheyenne every Thursday and was a member of the Veteran s of Foreign Wars Post No. 2121, the NRA and the Good Guys Car Club.

Harold loved people and would do anything for anyone. He belonged to the Darling Reservoir and helped out there. He enjoyed fixing things including his 1939 Chevy. He has two; one completely restored and the other is a work in progress. He also enjoyed reading, shooting and pheasant hunting in South Dakota every October.

Survivors include his wife, Patty of Greeley; son, Daniel Schwalm of Berthoud; daughter, Pennie Schwalm of Steamboat Springs; and a sister, Cheryl Hembree of Greeley.

I am sorry to report that my flight school roommate and good friend Harold Schwalm passed away on December 30, 2010.
