More detail on this person: Robert C. Stack Fort Carson is renaming a dining hall in honor of a retired colonel and former civilian employee at the post. The building will be designated the Robert C. Stack Dining Facility on Thursday. Stack once commanded a battalion at Fort Carson and later took a civilian job overseeing training ranges. He died in July. He was indicted on federal conflict-of-interest charges in 2006. A judge dismissed the case, saying no reasonable jury would convict him. Prosecutors accused him of approving payments to companies he had a financial interest in. His attorney, Dennis Hartley, calls it "the most B.S. case I've ever seen." In a written statement, Fort Carson said Stack was being honored for contributions to the post. It wasn't immediately clear if officials took the 2006 case into consideration.
