More detail on this person: John F. Szuch, 82, of Seville, passed away October 8, 2020 at home. He was born January 11, 1938 in Cleveland, the son of Frank Szuch and Sophie (Malicki). On October 23, 1982, he married Marlene Chapman. Together they shared 38 years of marriage. He was a 1955 graduate of Benedictine High School; 1959 graduate of John Carroll University; a U.S. Army Helicopter pilot from 1960-63. Proud of his Polish Heritage, he was an avid collector of Polish General Casimir Pulaski memorabilia, and past President of the Polish Genealogy Society of Greater Cleveland. He was the original football historian of Benedictine High School. He was a friend to many with his kind heart and great sense of humor. He loved to dress up as Santa Claus for children during the Christmas season. Preceded in death by his parents and grandson Gregory Szuch. He is survived by Wife Marlene Szuch (Chapman); children John J. Szuch, Christopher Szuch (Donna), Valerie Journic (Thomas), and James Szuch (Jannie Forbis-Watkins); stepchild Georgia Francis-Steward (Paul); grandchildren Ashley Byler (Christopher), Hannah Szuch, Jonathan Szuch, Michael Szuch; step-grandchildren Gregory Journic (Amanda), Tara Ware, Jesse Helms (Leslie), Lauren Alberto, Rachel Watkins, Brandy Watkins; sister-in-law Rosemary Chapman; cousin Alan Recko; and many great grandchildren. A special thank you to HICU of Barberton Citizens Hospital, and to Hospice of the Western Reserve. Funeral Mass October 26, 2020 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew Abbey on the campus of Benedictine High School 2900 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive Cleveland 44104. Memorial donations may be made to Benedictine High School. A private burial will take place at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Adams-Mason 330-535-9186.
