More detail on this person: On August 25, 2017, Dennis Alan Seals of Paradise, Utah, passed away peacefully at home after a long battle with cancer. Dennis was born July 11, 1950 in Morris, Grundy County, Illinois to Thomas Verdayne Seals and Patricia Elaine Bowers. Dennis was the oldest of 6 children, including three children born to Dennis' step mother; Shirley Billingsley Dennis learned the value of hard work growing up on the family farm in Southern Illinois. Following graduation from high school, Dennis volunteered to serve his country during the Vietnam War by joining the U.S. Army and becoming a helicopter pilot. Before leaving for his first tour in Vietnam, Dennis married his high school sweetheart, Georgia, in 1969. Dennis and Georgia celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary before Dennis passed. After several moves in the first 8 years of their marriage, they raised their family primarily in Utah, living in Riverton for nearly 38 years before moving to Paradise in 2015. Dennis served a full career in the Army, primarily with the Utah National Guard, as a helicopter and airplane pilot. When his flying career was grounded by heart disease, Dennis finished his career in the Army as the state safety officer. Following his military retirement, Dennis completed a second career as an FAA inspector, a job which allowed him to return to flying and continue doing what he loved. Dennis was an avid adventurer, logging thousands of miles on motorcycle trips to places such as the Arctic Circle and various national parks. He also logged many miles on foot, running 13 marathons. He hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon more than once, and hiked several of the iconic peaks along the Wasatch Front. Dennis made sure to always include his kids in these adventures, leaving his children with many lasting and deep memories of sharing this beautiful country with their father. Throughout his life, Dennis maintained a love for gardening and wood working. Following his retirement, Dennis set about learning to make wooden canoes, with a goal to make one for each of his children. Dennis is survived by his wife, Georgia, his children Melanie (Jeremy) Allen, Jeremy (Yuka), Jeffry (Mary), Lincoln (Heather) and Amanda (Peter) Crosby; sixteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is also survived by many many dear friends who have been a part of his life for a very long time. He made an impact on many lives and he will be dearly missed.
