Born Sept. 13, 1950, he was the son of Howard Wayne atxd Patricia (Hall) Shaffer. He graduated from Hamilton Heights High School Class of 1968 and from Purdue University where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture Economics. He was a Chief Warrant Officer in the U.S. Army where he was a helicopter pilot and had served a tour of duty in Vietnam. He is employed as a sales manager for Beck's Superior Hybrids. Surviving are his mother and step-father, Patricia and Cliff Collins of Noblesville, Ind.; daughter, Elizabeth "Betsy" Moore of Carmel; sons, Andrew J. Shaffer of Williamsburg, Va. and Brian M. Shaffer of Pekin, Ind.; two stepdaughters; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; sister, Susan S. (Evan) Aehenbach of Atlanta, Ind.; and brother, Mark W. (Ann) Shaffer of Mooresville, Ind. He was preceded in death, by his wife, Gayle Shaffer; father ; and daughter, Ann Shaffer. Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Friday at Hartley Funeral Homes-Cicero Chapel. The Rev. Neal Brown officiating. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will follow service in Lutheran Cemetery near Arcadia, Ind., with military rites conducted by the Cicero VFW and Cicero American Legion.
