More detail on this person: Ronald Earnest Schmaling was born January 31, 1947, in Santa Rosa, CA to Earnest Everal Schmaling and Hazel Elizabeth Tillman. He passed away on March 28, 2022. He grew up in northern California settling in Sacramento where his parents lived until their passing in the late 1980s. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Throughout his life he worked in various fields most notably he served his country in Vietnam as well as reserve service in the US Army 1st Calvery Division as an aviator. He worked as a law enforcement officer and later as a computer security professional among other things. The last few years saw an increase in health issues which led to his passing. He is survived by his brother Philip, 6 children, Susanne Schmaling-Smethurst, Christen Stacey, Kimberley Schmaling, Jason Schmaling, Alexandra Yanez, and Alicia Schmaling, 15 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, Ron requested donations be made to the Ronald McDonald House in remembrance of his son Jeremy who passed away from cancer in 1989.
