More detail on this person: STEPHAN L. SINK (Steve) was born in Richmond, Indiana on June 6th, 1936 to Eldin and Norma Eley Sink, but spent most of his youth in Ohio. He joined the Army in October 1958 and retired at the rank of Chief Warrant Officer in January 1986. He served two tours as a helicopter pilot in the Viet Nam War (1965-66 and 1968-69). He also served two peace-time tours in South Korea in the 1980's. During Steve's military career he was awarded 36 air medals including the Distinguished Flying Cross, and the Bronze Star.

It was during one of the tours in South Korea that Steve met his wife, Susan Bailey Sink, who sadly predeceased him in 2010. She was working at the Taegu Military Compound as a teacher with the Department of Defense, teaching second grade at a Base elementary school. They were married in Massachusetts (?) on January 2nd, 1981. Following Steve's retirement from the Army on January 31st, 1986, they decided to settle in Coronado, CA where Sue had a sister (Anne Bailey Shealy).

Steve and Sue had a very active social life post-retirement and were part of the "Hole in the Wall Gang" that met for dinner in the same end booth every Friday night at the Brigantine restaurant. Steve also bowled at the North Island Lanes every week with his buddies. Not one to sit on his laurels, Steve worked for H. and R. Block tax preparers and as a doorman at the Coronado Shores after his retirement, as well as volunteering as a Meals-on-Wheels driver.

Steve passed away on January 17th due to complications following a fall at his home. He left this world peacefully, surrounded by family members. He is survived by sons David, Sean (Jill) and Erik Sink, daughter ?, and many nieces and nephews. His ashes will join Sue's, at rest in Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a future date.
