Schnedler - Two killed, two injured in area accidents Two killed, two injured in area accidents Joplin Globe, The (MO) - Monday, March 23, 2015 Both drivers were killed in a two-vehicle accident at 1:15 a.m. Monday on U.S. Highway 54, 11 miles west of Nevada in Vernon County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Ashley R. Schnedler, 36, of Nevada, and John L. Swarts, 74, of Fort Scott, Kansas, were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by a Vernon County deputy coroner, the state patrol said. Their bodies were taken to the Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. Schnedler was driving an eastbound car and Swarts a westbound car that collided head-on, the patrol said.
