More detail on this person: Carl Edward Smith Carl Edward Smith was born on November 25, 1938 in Caldwell County, Princeton, Kentucky, the son of Ben J Smith and Zora ( -- ) Smith. A member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, he was a retired US Army Chief Warrant Officer 3. Carl was a decorated Vietnam veteran with a Purple Heart. He was an instructor at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and retired from Venture Industries of Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Carl passed away on August 1, 2013. Preceded in death by his daughter Vicki Smith; his parents; sisters Bennie Crockett and Gwen Rustin and by his brother Alfred Smith, he was survived by his wife of 56 years; a married son; grandson; step-grandson; married sister; as well as several nieces and nephews. Burial is to be in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West, Hopkinsville, Kentucky with full military honors. Pallbearers will be military. Original obituary in The Leaf Chronicle on August 3, 2013
