More detail on this person: Reverend Robert Joseph Smith Sable, 76 Robert Joseph SABLE Dothan Eagle, The (AL) - Thursday, August 27, 2009 Dothan AL United States Robert Joseph Sable Robert Joseph Sable, a resident of Newton, died Sunday, August 23, 2009 at his residence. He was 76. Memorial services with military honors will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 28, 2009 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel on West Main Street with Reverend Robert Smith officiating. The family will receive friends in the chapel following the services. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, P.O. Box 976, Dot-han, Alabama, 36302. Mr. Sable was born April 21, 1933 in Akron, Ohio and lived the early years of his life there. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War retiring after 22 years of service. He was the recipient of the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. After his military retirement, he worked as a test pilot and instructor pilot with Civil Service for 33 years prior to his retirement. Mr. Sable was of the Lutheran faith. Mr. Sable is predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Anna Rose Sable; two sisters; his wife, Willie Fay Sable and the mother of his children, Leola Mae Sable. Survivors include three sons, Rick C. Sable and his wife, Gwen of Enterprise, AL; Michael J. Sable of Destin, FL, Robert J. Sable, Jr. and his wife, Joy of Harvest, AL; a daughter, Robin R. Crabtree and husband, Buddy of Harvest, AL, Tom and Teresa Hutchinson of Enterprise, AL; grandchildren, Jennifer Crabtree, Ricky Lee Sable and Robert J. Sable, III, Jason Hutchinson and Kimberly Hutchinson of Enterprise, AL; one great-grandchild, Rhylei Sable; a sister, Betty M. Miller of Largo, FL; several nieces and nephews including William and Lori Bedwell and other family members and friends also survive. Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street, (334) 793-3003, is in charge of arrangements.
