Visitation for one hour before the service. John Alan Sainio, 56, of Lady Lake, Fla., died Friday, Sept. 20, 2002, at Leesburg Hospital in Florida. He was born June 10, 1946, in Virginia to Helen and Ensio Sainio. He graduated from Mountain Iron High School and joined the U.S. Army at age 18. He served in Korea in the Medical Corps. After leaving Korea, he attended flight school in Alabama. He served in the Vietnam War as a helicopter pilot. After his discharge from the Army, he resided in Texas and Florida, where he was a trained audiologist and was the owner and operator of Budget Hearing Center in Lady Lake. John is survived by his parents, Ensio and Helen Sainio of Virginia; his children, Erik (Amy) Sainio of Doniphan, Mo., Isaac Sainio of Florida and Cathy Sainio of Florida; two brothers, Gary (Dianna) Sainio of Mountain Iron and David (Elizabeth) Sainio of Grand Rapids; two sisters, Faye (James) Akerman of Virginia and Karen (Bill) Heminger of Virginia; his grandchildren, Mallory and Austin of Missouri; many nieces and nephews; and many dear and beloved friends in Minnesota, Texas and Florida. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Toimi and Taimi Sainio; his maternal grandparents, John and Hilda Koivunen; and an infant daughter.
