More detail on this person: Brady L. Smith Brady L. Smith Daily Herald, The (Everett, WA) - Friday, January 2, 2009 May 13, 1940-Dec. 29, 2008 Brady L. Smith, of Monroe, passed away on December 29, 2008 due to complications of COPD. He was 68 years old. Brady was the seventh child in a family of nine children born to Wes and Alvina (Dolly) Smith of Monroe. After graduating from Monroe High School, Brady joined the US Army. He was stationed in White Sands, NM, and served as a helicopter mechanic for three years. After completing his service, he worked as an electrician. He was called back into service during the Vet Nam war, where he became a warrant officer, helicopter pilot, and pilot instructor. He served 26 months in Viet Nam. Brady was a highly decorated pilot who survived numerous crashes and sustained multiple injuries that affected him for the rest of his life. After his time in the service, he lived and worked in Panama City, Florida. He then moved to Wyoming where he worked in the oil fields. He returned to Monroe in 1984, where he lived on the home place at High Bridge until his death. Brady was a self-taught, accomplished musician. He was well-read, with a brilliant mind and memory. He spent his later years pursuing his hobbies, which included restoring old machinery. Brady was preceded in death by his mother and father, and his oldest brother, Joel. He is survived by his brothers, Larry (Nicki) and Darrell (Shirley), Cole (Carol); sisters, Neva Schell, Dixie (Gary) Jackson, Jean (Wiard) Groeneveld, Nola (Bob) Frankhouser; and numerous nieces and nephews. Brady will be sorely missed by his family and friends. A celebration of his life will be at 1:30 p.m., on Saturday, January 10, 2009, at the Tualco Grange Hall in Monroe. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the VFW.
