Smith Jr., 57, of Alburtis, formerly of Harrington, Del., died Friday, March 16, 2007, in Sacred Heart Hospital, Allentown. Born in Milford, Del., Daniel was the son of Catherine M. (Taylor) Smith of Houston, Del., and the late Daniel J. Smith Sr. He was a truck driver for Liberty Recycling in Allentown, and was a former firefighter for the Alburtis Fire Co. Daniel was a U.S. Army veteran, serving as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. After graduating from Harrington High School in 1967, he attended Madison College in Harrisonburg, Va. Daniel was the husband of Eileen (VanSyckle) Smith. They celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary in February. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a sister, Diane S. Dolan of Houston, Del. and a niece, Sarah Danielle Restivo of Eldersburg, Md. Graveside services were Tuesday in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington. Friends called from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. Dupont Highway, Harrington.
