More detail on this person: Lee Spencer departed this life on July 3, 2017. He was 69 years old. Lee gave his life for his country. As a Chief Warrant Officer medevac helicopter pilot in Vietnam, he flew missions under extreme circumstances, including enemy fire, to evacuate wounded soldiers from the battlefield. He received multiple awards and recognition for his service to his country, including the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. Upon leaving active duty, he remained in the Army reserves as a pilot until he could no longer serve due to health issues. He contracted heart disease, related to Agent Orange (deadly herbicides used in the Vietnam War), which led to death from complications of congestive heart failure. He suffered from cardiomyopathy for years, along with PTSD. Lee attended Monroe Community College, as well as St. John Fisher College, and re-tired from Eastman Kodak as a software engineer. He then returned to school to earn a nursing degree and worked at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New York. He also served as a private duty nurse, and was a longtime volunteer EMS at the Perinton Volunteer Fire Department. He loved his dogs_breeding, raising and showing them_and used his nursing skills to deliver the puppies and keep his animals in good health.
