More detail on this person: Lt. Col. Everett Ono Sanburn March 22, 1933 - July 27, 2018 Everett Ono Sanburn, 85, of Gresham passed away in the twinkling of an eye July 27, 2018. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018, at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home located at 520 W. Powell Blvd., Gresham, OR. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 14, 2018, at Newport Cemetery in Newport, Wash. Everett was born in Bridgeport, Neb., to Ellamae Brown and Nathaniel Sanburn the 22nd day of March, 1933. He grew up in Newport and graduated 4th in his class of 44 students from Newport High School. In 1953 he was drafted into the Army for the Korean War and stayed in the Army until retirement in 1973 after serving in the Korean and Vietnam wars as a helicopter pilot. After his retirement from the military he became a successful real estate agent and eventually a Broker and co-owner of his own real estate company until he retired at the age of 65. Everett was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lois; and brother, Eugene. He is survived by his sisters, Louise and Gladys; first wife, MaryJo McKenzie; and their three children, Patricia, Michael and Marcheta. He was preceded in death by his second wife, Barbara Hartish; and survived by their two children, Wesley and Michele. He is survived by his partner in life, Sandra Askelson; and their dog, Bambi.
