More detail on this person: Thomas William Or Tom Or Tom Or Tom Schmid, 69 OBITUARIES St. Petersburg Times (FL) - Thursday, November 3, 2005 SCHMID, THOMAS WILLIAM "TOM," 69, of St. Petersburg, died Tuesday (Nov. 1, 2005) of cancer. He was born and raised in Cincinnati and came here in 1976. He was an Army artillery and aviation veteran of 22 years and served tours in Vietnam, the Panama Canal Zone and Germany. His last assignment was at Central Command at MacDill Air Force Base. After retiring from the military in 1979, he worked as manager and head of apprenticeship for Independent Electrical Contractors (formerly Electrical Worker's Association) in St. Petersburg for 16 years, retiring in in 2001. He graduated from Xavier University in 1959 with a bachelor of arts degree in business and completed ROTC officer training. He was a Catholic and had been a member of St. Raphael's parish since 1976. He enjoyed golf and travel. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Elaine; two daughters, Karen S. Peet, Gainesville, and Laura A. Schmid, Arcadia; two sons, Mark J. and John E., both of Atlanta; a brother James E., Cincinnati; two sisters, Mary C. McConn, Cincinnati, and Sister V. Ann Schmid, Columbus, Ohio; three grandchildren; and 14 nieces and nephews. Anderson-McQueen Funeral & Cremation Centers-N.E. St. Petersburg.
