More detail on this person: Jim did three tours
in Vietnam beginning in 1965. First tour he was
enlisted, then he went to OCS. He went back for
his second tour as a 2LT in Field Artillery. He
was a forward observer one of those times, I don't
remember which. Then he did flight school in '71
and went back as a scout pilot for his third tour.
I know he served his final tour with a cavalry
unit. He won the DFC for a mission to rescue
people behind lines. I don't remember the unit
names, but below are the two combat patches he
wore on his right sleeve. You will probably
recognize them and maybe you can match them
up. This information was last updated 05/18/2016

If he finished flight school in '71 or '72, then
he was probably in Vietnam until 1973? He worked
with some of the very early missiles, so much of
his later career was with Air Defense Artillery,
although his branch remained Field Artillery. He
retired from DIVARTY, First Armored Division,
Nuernberg Germany as a Major with 21 years of
service on June 30, 1987.
