More detail on this person: FAYETTEVILLE -- Retired Major Thomas Richard Shipp, 72, of Fayetteville passed away on Friday, May 20, 2016. He is survived by his wife, Janet L. Shipp of the home; two sons, Gary Shipp of Fayetteville and James Shipp and wife, Jen of Washington Crossing, Pa.; one brother, Bob Shipp of Clearwater, Fla.; and four grandchildren, Shannon, Ryan, Megan, and Christian. A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 2 pm Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery with Rev. Archie Barringer officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at the funeral home. He was an avid gardener and fisherman who served his country with pride, and was awarded the Bronze Star during his service in Vietnam. He was a dedicated member of the Cape Fear Chapter of MOAA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Scholarship Fund of The Cape Fear Chapter, MOAA, P.O Box 53621, Fayetteville, NC 28305. Services entrusted to Rogers and Breece Funeral Home.
